Health Research Tips
Two great places to start
Wikipedia.org   This site favors the medical perspective yet contains lots of great information. It is easy for the novice to read and understand com paired to Pub Med

Pub Med  This site is a little harder to read as it contains may difficult medical terms. Its advantage is that it has hundreds of reviews of actual medical research by doctors on natural compounds (herbs). The search box is a little confusing as it is labeled "For".   Most of the research reports on this site are FDA or equivalent research labs from all over the world. To best understand this site look up words you do not recognize. Each medical term has its own story and if you do not understand it you will not get the whole message from the article. Often a compound can be manufactured from organic, animal or chemistry sources. Knowing which source used in the tests is vital as some times one is less beneficial than another for the human body. Also of note is to understand when a report states it works on pigs, rats etc does not mean that it does not work for humans. Labs write their reports for pharmaceutical companies and specifically write the reports so that the novice will not see what they are really saying about humans. They do this because the pharmaceutical companies take the research to make a chemical compound to mimic the natural compound. This way both the lab and the pharmaceutical companies make a profit. Such artificially altered compounds are never as beneficial as the natural compound and often cause other diseases or health problems. That does not mean the natural chemical does not have side effects as well, so be sure to study those too.

If you want to know what research has been done about a specific herb type that term in the "For" box.

Don't be a dead sheep. Doctors are the third leading cause of death. Natural health people are little better. Neither fully understand the chemical reactions of drugs or herbs. The natural people just copy what has been reported for thousands of years by ancient China, India, Japan, South America, American Indians and others. These sources are often very reliable but do not take in consideration your body. It is far better to know what the actual chemicals are in each item and how it affects the human body. When you open the two sites above often you will see lists of the chemical compounds. Research each compound to see what each compound does to the human body.

There is so much greed in health products both medically prescribed as well as from the natural fields that one must do serious research before taking something they do not know what its reaction is on the human body.

Learn to treat your medical professional as a consultant not a god. Do your own research and then make your own informed decision. Seek a second or even third opinion if you are still undecided.

Internet and health store products that combine numerous compounds often conflict to each other. For example one compound may thin the blood and another thickens the blood. This is only an example, however this conflict often occurs because the manufacturer does only marginal research. They see that a certain items help diabetes so the lump them all together making claims listed for the individual compounds. Each individually may perform as claimed but together they may not.

It is more expensive but I have found it much wiser to be the mixer not someone else. Years ago I greatly improved my health taking numerous items individually. Then because they were more expensive I changed to a multi compound and my health depreciated. I did not know why then but have since recognized it is impossible to put into one capsule all the health benefits of each item. If a product has ten or as so often 20 items in it how is is possible. It simply is impossible to put what you buy as an individual items and put all of then into one pill. The other problem as mentioned is that some may conflict with the others. This is just a few of the reasons to avoid the so often advertised cure all pills either pharmaceutical or natural.

Your health is too important to trust it to those more interested in profits than your welfare. By doing a little serious research you may avoid serious problems.
