Based on my personal research to restore my own health I offer the following suggestions that may restore optimum health! Check the links for research reports and documentation.

In researching health I have discovered numerous sources that lead to the conclusion that no matter what genetic health problems we may inherit oxidative stress causes most diseases or makes them worse. In other words eliminating oxidative stress is the key to restoring and improving health. Useful Med Info site calls these symptoms Metabolic Mayhem and lists the following diseases caused by oxidative stress.

  • Diabetes
  • Heart diseases and stroke
  • All cancers
  • All autoimmune diseases: Lupis, Multiple Sclerosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Candidia, Celiac
  • Alzheimer's, Parkinson's & Lou Gehrig's Disease
  • Some Kidney Diseases
  • Inflammatory Bowel, Ulcerative Colitis & Chohn's Disease
  • Endometriosis & Some PCOS

I began treating myself for oxidative stress beginning July 2007. The list below is part of my process and I offer it to anyone as a suggestion to improve health. As of December 2008 I have lowered my diabetic glucose from an average of 350 to 160. I have lost some weight and overall my energy is increasing and my chronic fatigue is less. Along with the suggestions below I have gone on a glucose free diet (Celiac disease) which by itself eliminated most of my past depression. The most significant diet change I have made is to drink a blend of herbal tea's

  1. Stop oxidative stress
    1. Eliminate free radicals that cause oxidative stress.
      1. Eliminate toxic chemicals such as aspartame found in diet sodas and other toxic food additives.
      2. Water
        1. Drink pure water; preferably distilled water.
        2. Avoid tap water that is high in aluminum, fluoride, chlorine, parasites, bacteria and harmful chemicals and minerals.

      3. Eliminate table salt and use natural sea salt. Natural sea salt does not have the damaging effects table salt has. Table salt causes many problems and must be eliminated as much as possible.See salt page
      4. Avoid smoking and alcoholic drinks.
        1. Fortunately I have never smoked, however during the 60's and 70's I have been exposed to second hand smoke that has caused pneumonia and respiratory problems.
        2. Although I do not drink alcohol one of my health issues is Candidia. Candidia converts sugar to alcohol and causes the same problems experienced by one who drinks alcohol usually in a lesser degree. Candidia is a result of an impaired immune system caused by oxidative stress. I have not obtained permanent help with any Candidia treatment and hope eventually my efforts to repair oxidative stress will eliminate my Candidia.
      5. Increase natural fruits and vegetables
      6. Decrease foods with high starches and carbohydrates such as potatoes and all sugar foods.
      7. Eliminate or at least minimize the amount of processed foods.
      8. Increase healthy oils and remove all other oils: see our oil page
        1. N3- (Often referred to Omega Oils) Cod Liver oil or Krill Oil are good sources of N3 essential oils. Some recommend high doses of N3 and claim they have no negative effects with extremely high health benefits. Cod Liver and Krill oil are recommended over other fish oils.
        2. N9- Olive oil is a good source of N9. Remove all other cooking oils from your home and cook only with olive oil. Especially avoid polyunsaturated and hydrogenated oils, many suggest they cause cancer.
        3. N6- Beef and Pork are high in N6 (It is suggested that N6 oils do not exceed 1/4 ratio to N3 and N9 oils with N3 suggested as the highest consumed of the three oils.)
  2. Strengthening the Immune System may be helped by taking the following supplements and foods
    1. Probiotics; natural yogurts, cottage cheese and sauerkraut are high in probiotics. If you purchase a supplement be sure to get one that has at least six types of probiotics.
    2. Antioxidants; Any process to increase health must reduce oxidants and increase antioxidants.
    3. Herbal tea; It has helped lover my glucose from over 300 to almost normal in 4 months.
    4. Berberine, contained in Grape Root Extract. Berberine has tremendous antioxidant and immune system support.
    5. Pomegranate; Another item high in supporting the immune system and increasing antioxidants.
    6. Tea Tree Oils; Great claims to help the immune system and overall health
    7. Amino acids and enzymes to aid in digestion and elimination. If the digestion and elimination system does not function properly none of the other items in this page can provide a meaningful health improvement.
    8. Minerals
      1. If you have high levels of heavy metals or aluminum increase zinc and selenium.
      2. It is claimed that most people have sufficient zinc but cannot assimilate it because their selenium levels are too low. See Metallothionein and Heavy Metals
    9. Vitamins
    10. CoQ10 Added after I experienced serious leg swelling and heart problems. They greatly reduced in one month.

  3. There are several diseases that are more prevalent than most medical practitioners recognize that cause severe compromises to the immune system and overall health. Check out these and be sure they are not causing your health problems. Candida   Lyme Disease   Celiac Disease   Digestion Problems   Parasites   as well as the above heavy metal issues.
  4. Exercise:
    1. If one has chronic fatigue or many health issues they do not feel like exercising. In such cases exercising can be stressful to optimum health and cause more damage. For example if one is sick and they exercise it can place too much stress on the immune system and the body's ability to survive the illness.
    2. Following the above suggestions may increase the body's energy and overall health.
    3. When the body is ready increase your exercise.
Continue to treat any disease you may have as suggested by your health professional, but start to reverse oxidative stress with these suggestions you may minimize or even eliminate existing diseases.

Your health problems probably accumulated over many years and you cannot expect these or any other changes to work over night. It is probable that these suggestions will make important changes however it may take a minimum of four months to see any results. It may take years to complete the removal and repairs resulting from oxidative stress. If one does not change oxidative stress they will get worse.
